HAHAHA! APRIL FOOLS! Tuh, I get you every year! You know, I usually do the same old rubbishy gaychimps.com gag every year, but I think this year’s April Fool was pretty unique. Needless to say that no characters have actually died and Steve is still a man, so rest assured! Although that said, that would be a better plot twist!

Turns out the actual April Fools was the Newsie itself! Tuh, and it was so realistic! Got you!
Three Unique Pictures for Elemental Micah : 4 April 2009
Lately I’ve been working extremely hard on three images for the Elemental Micah site, just to add something special to the site that has been having a “Coming soon” default page since the dawn of time. The first is of Micah holding a messenger bag, the second is Dana looking very cute and the third is Simon, ripping his shirt open in a Superman sort of way.
Please have a look and leave your thoughts. I’ll submit bigger pictures of the characters in deviantArt or FurAffinity soon enough. But now, I’m shattered! Time for bed.
The Anguish of Alfie Magpie : 5 April 2009
First revelation revealed quite unsubtly by Bob is a part of Alfie’s history that doesn’t involve his stepmother. Now you finally get to find out why he was so grumpy in the previous strip. That and a strip which has a background that took me hours to make only for me to blur it in the end. Sad but true. No matter what happens, in Steve & Bob, nothing is more important than the characters.
Also, much to my reluctance, I’ve uploaded the first eleven pages of Elemental Micah online. This was a project I never, EVER wanted to be online, but it seems silly to have a website and not show a BIT of it. I’m very anxious about having it online as I’m not sure whether the repercussions will be good or bad.
Steve goes Emo for Easter : 12 April 2009
Well everyone, it’s Easter and I hope you’re all stuffing your faces with chocolate (I know I will), but as an extra treat, here’s another strip. Personally, I love this strip as it was such a challenge to make (as are they all) but mainly for the background. There is something quite odd and, in a sadistic way, satisfying about adding intricate detail to a background and then just blurring them. Feel free to let me know what you think, and also let me know what you think about having the strip as a weekly comic. Is it too long to wait for the next one? Are they worth the wait? I’m feeling a bit paranoid that people are waiting for something and they’d get disappointed. I hope not as these strips have had a lot of work put into them and hopefully, that’ll show.
Papa's got a Brand New Bag : 18 April 2009
Mike has a new toy and this time it's deviantArt! Yep, I shelled out and got me a subscription. I'm not entirely sure what the full benefits are, but apparently I'll now be rich AND famous and women will be throwing their knickers at me instead of bricks. It's only a matter of time before I tinker enough with the settings and things with this site so much that my page will be a sea of lush lovilness as opposed to this strange, bland greenishy grey colour. I'm making some of my more favourite pieces critiqueable, so feel free to bend your creative words around my waxy ears AND I've made Simon ripping his shirt off a priority picture. Well it had to be done.
Ooh, 3D! : 19 April 2009
What can I say apart from yesterday was such an amazing day. First off, huge thanks to Matt for making it so incredible and secondly, thanks for me for dreaming it up! Piccadilly Circus seems to be the place to be lately as we went there and marvelled at the sheer visual delight that is the Pick and Mix shop. Oooh they had marshmallows big enough and long enough to replace your large and small intestines! Then as we were waiting for the film to start in the cinema, we ate at Ed’s Diner. If you’ve never eaten at Ed’s, it’s a American style diner with the most amazing setting AND burgers (although I think Matt had put too much vinegar on his fries). Then we went to the cinema where I got these pretty snazzy glasses. Yep, I saw my very first 3D film. It’s very strange having something coming out at you. Especially when there’s a person standing in the action and you can’t help but think someone in the front row is standing up to go to the toilet or something. So definitely an amazing day and now, since you’ve been patient enough to read this newsie, here’s this week’s strip and I have to say, quite the important one. This time Bob won’t be in most of this chapter because his over powered brain has just figured something out. The clues are all there (especially in this strip). If you can figure them out too, then you’ll undoubtedly be excited about what is going to happen next.
623 Done, Dusted. : 20 April 2009
That's it. I've finally finished writing, drawing, colouring, shading AND resizing all the strips for chapter 28. Hallelujah! Now comes the arduous task of discovering what to do now that I don't have strips to make. Pottery? Model building? Possibly doing chapter 29? The thing about chapter 29 is that I do want a bit of a gap to finish off some Elemental Micah stuff, but I also want to start writing it straight away! It won't be a very happy chapter (a main character will not meet a happy fate), but it will reveal some of the mysteries that will be uncovered at the end of this chapter. Also, I was wondering whether I should reveal any proceeding strips a week early as an incentive to voting for the comic strip every day. Just thought I'd throw that out there. Also, another important thing, whatever you do, don't click on certain forbidden links on this site as you certainly won't find anything of interest there.
In All Reputable Retailers : 24 April 2009
Okay guys, do you live in London? Do you like Steve & Bob? Are you curious about the ever elusive adventures of Elemental Micah? Well guess what?! Steve & Bob; Issue Two is on sale at Comicana and Orbital AND Elemental Micah; the FIRST print of Issue One, each individually numbered is also on sale at Comicana and Orbital! Go! Buy! Now! Hrmph, okay, the last bit was a bit of a rubbish sales pitch, but meh. Steve & Bob 2 is three quid and the Limited Edition Hand Made Elemental Micah Issue One is two quid. That and I also bought some Jelly Belly beans today from Hamleys. Lovely.
Crabs : 28 April 2009
I've gone a bit crab crazy of late. I just had an idea to draw Ark battling a giant monster and i had no idea what he could battle that hasn't already been done. So, then I thought, naturally, octopus. But that's a bit too predictable for me, what HAVEN'T I ever drawn before? And then it struck me; CRABS! So I've shown off an unmade picture which is just a pencil outline. I hated it, so I scanned it (thinking people would be curious to see it), and put it in the scraps section of the site. Then I drew another picture, coloured it in and then it turned out to be too late to shade, so I submitted the flat coloured one last night. So today, as though on auto pilot, I shaded it in and changed some of the outlines. This is pretty much the same old process I've been using for the Steve & Bob strips, and I'm pretty proud of the end results (although I kindda wish I didn't show the flat coloured one as that's got loads of comments and the shaded one has one!) Feel free to have a look and let me know what you think. Also have a look at this (if you haven't already) to see some alternative versions of the Elemental Micah characters!
Kiss it Better : 3 May 2009
As you may or may not have noticed, this page has had a few minor changes. In a bid to try and compact everything, I’ve made a lot of the buttons smaller, I’ve changed the flash navigation (again) and I’ve added a banner for the shop as the lack of income is become more apparent every day. Also, NEW STRIP! This time, Steve manages to completely defuse the whole Alfie rage thing with his own brand of sheer silliness. That said, I take no responsibility if you decide to use this technique yourself to a rugby player...
The Stitch Monsters : 4 May 2009
Technically, this news is more suitable for yesterday, but yesterday was strip day (and nothing over shadows the strip) so here it is today. My good friend Ash McCollins* planted an idea in my head quite a while ago and it’s kindda festered in there ever since. Basically, he filled a blog saying he’d do some sketches for people if they fancied it. I wanted a sketch, but alas, I read the blog too late. After expressing my despair, I said, "D'oh! Too late! But if you'd like a doodle of something, let me know." After which, Ash replied with, "then that would be an art trade! XD lol watch this space!" And that’s when the seeds were planted... As I was drawing the Ark picture for Loop (the one with the giant crab? Oh do keep up), more monster picture ideas were creeping in my head. Then Ash’s character, Rad Savij popped in my mind. Basically, Rad Savij is a mental puppet thing. He’s green, has stitches and his weapon of choice is a giant spoon. Needless to say the narcotics departments would find nothing at Ash’s place. But after seeing my picture I’ve done for Ash, they might pop around mine... With the giant monster theme firmly in my mind, I imagined Rad with a giant gorilla. Then I thought a gorilla is a bit passé and, er, Ash’d already done a gorilla pic... Then I tried to think of a possible creature related to Rad. A doll with a zip for his mouth... ZIPPY FROM RAINBOW! So here it is, a picture of a giant Zippy from Rainbow, plotting doom upon the unsuspecting Rad. Correction: A giant naked monster Zippy with hate in his glowing red eyes, towering over the unsuspecting yet able Rad. So, here I am, sharing. Needless to say that after finished chapter 28, I’ve still got the drawing bug (touch wood) and I’m curious what other creations I’ll come up with in the future. Until then, rage on Zippy...
* it’s kind of an in-joke, I give everyone’s surname a Mc. It started when I originally got into World of Warcraft...
Is it that time of the year again? : 7 May 2009
I’m remaking the website again, but to be fair, it’s the first time in a very, very long time. Back in the day, the website would go through a huge re-make pretty much every month, but for a long time I’ve been very happy with the current design so it pains me to be rid of it. But I really do need to be rid of it. The main reason is that there’s too much scrolling, so this new site will only have the one newsie bits, the Absolutely Divine Quotes has controversially been renamed and the site has a brand new logo. It’s pretty much finished, but I just wanted to add more skins (as at the moment there’s only three) and it should be ready for release on Sunday (when the internet will, like it always does, decide to break down until 2:35am in the morning) Just, well, just brace yourself. If you love the current design, I think you’ll like the new one too... Urg... Nervous...
